World Class Acts lined up for you at Folk at the Froize

Starting off the year with a bang we’ve got Dan Walsh appearing on the 24th January who is touted as one of the finest banjo players in the UK as well as being a superb singer, songwriter and guitarist. He now has three critically acclaimed solo albums with new album ‘ Incidents and Accidents ‘ lauded as ‘absolutely terrific’ by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2. As well as many tours of the UK, he also has recent successful trips to USA, Canada, Germany, India, Norway and New Zealand to his credit. Having made his name with duo Walsh and Pound and now a member of the award winning Urban Folk Quartet, as well as guest appearances on stage and on record with the Levellers and Seth Lakeman, this unique and eclectic musician has stunned audiences across the world. Feeling very excited to hear this man play again! Jon and me saw him earlier in  2015 at Maverick Festival and were simply struck dumb by his insane skills.

On the 28th February we look forward to hosting well known Folk musician   Sam Carter  who has been lauded as ‘The finest English-style finger-picking guitarist of his generation’  by Jon Boden

Since Sam Carter released his debut album Keepsakes in 2009, there has been a mounting excitement about this songwriter, guitarist and singer.

At the time he was an Emerging Artist In Residence at The Southbank Centre in London and has since supported Bellowhead on a UK tour, performed in the Middle East and UK with the British Council’s Shifting Sands project, played to thousands as part of the all-star line-up for the tour ‘The Lady: A Homage To Sandy Denny’, performed on major venue and festival stages in his own right and walked away with Horizon Award for best newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. What a treat to have such an accomplished musician coming to perform to us at Folk at the Froize!

And last but not least, we are excited to announce we will be hosting this fabulous duo on 27th March …
Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar return with their third album, ‘The Silent Majority’. The duo will be heading out on tour in March and April to support the release … and they’ve decided to come all the way out into rural Suffolk to entertain us! Isn’t that lovely!?!

The duo are one of the most sought after young acts on the folk music scene today. Having won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2013 they’ve since released 2 albums, a live DVD ( which I’ve seen and it’s top stuff ) and picked up the Radio 2 Horizon Award and were nominated for Best Duo in 2015.

Playing a mixture of traditional and contemporary music from the British Isles, Russell (vocal, guitar & bouzouki) and Algar (violin & bouzouki) have built up a strong following and a reputation as an impressive and engaging live act.

Catch them at Folk at the Froize on Sunday 27th March 2016 . Tickets are available now from the Froize.

In fact, tickets are available for all the above performances NOW, so make sure you give David at the Froize a call to get yours before they all disappear! These are going to be some truly special musical performances that I can guarantee you won’t want to miss. And I don’t know about you, but I really want to know what a bouzouki is … intrigued!
