Rosie Hood Band – Sunday 27th October 2024

BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated Rosie Hood is a folk singer/songwriter who has toured extensively both solo and in many collaborations. Known for her powerful and clear vocals, Rosie’s captivating performances combine her poetic writing with dynamic and honest interpretations of traditional songs.

Rosie learnt folk songs from an early age and has a keen interest in the history of traditional songs, particularly those of her native Wiltshire, where she has spent time researching in the local archives and developing a broad repertoire of local songs. A former member of The Dovetail Trio, Rosie released her first full-length solo album The Beautiful & The Actual in 2017, a collection of old and new folk songs, described by The Guardian as “poetic class” ****.

Rosie has toured the UK and Central Canada both solo and as part of The Dovetail Trio as well as collaborating and performing with a host of fellow musicians including Emily Portman, Jefferson Hamer, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne and the Andy May Trio. Rosie is currently performing with Nicola Beazley (fiddles, vocals), Robyn Wallace (melodeon/percussion) & Rosie Butler-Hall (fiddles, vocals) as The Rosie Hood Band, the quartet are currently touring their new album A Seed Of Gold, showcasing the band’s chamber-folk interpretations of traditional and contemporary material.
